Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio during the summer transfer market.

Newcastle United are interested in signing Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio, according to a report.

The Magpies invested heavily in the squad during the January transfer window, and so far Eddie Howe is reaping the benefits as the club have gone seven matches consecutively without a defeat in the Premier League.

They now find themselves 14th place, but the English outfit already have one eye on potential deals to take place in summer ahead of the next campaign.

According to Calciomercato, Newcastle United are interested in signing Inacio, as Howe wants to add further strength to the squad, particularly defensively.

The 20-year-old has made 19 appearances in the Primeira Liga, scoring three times, whilst he has also featured in six Champions League matches.

Newcastle United will be back in action on Saturday when they play Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.
