Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has revealed that club captain Fabricio Coloccini has been affected by his side's form more than most.
The Magpies have struggled to capture last season's quality, winning just four of the opening 17 games in the Premier League.
According to Pardew, the dismal start to the season has left Coloccini struggling to come to terms with not winning.
"Colo is one of those players for whom not winning does affect him," said Pardew.
"I don't think he likes to put himself out there if he doesn't feel the results reflect very well.
"I understand that. The fact the results stay with him says a lot about the man as a professional."
Newcastle are currently sitting in 15th place, just two points above the relegation zone.
