Two goals from Leon Best helped Newcastle United maintain their unbeaten start to the season with a 2-1 victory over Fulham at St James' Park.
Neither side was able to find the net in the first half, but just three minutes after the restart Best put the Magpies in front from close range.
Best doubled the home side's advantage in the 66th minute when he turned in Demba Ba's cross.
Visiting Fulham grabbed a late consolation courtesy of Clint Dempsey, who headed in Danny Murphy's free-kick with two minutes remaining.
After the international break, Newcastle United travel to Queens Park Rangers on Monday, September 12, while Fulham host Blackburn Rovers a day earlier.
