Victor Ibarbo wanted by Newcastle United?

Newcastle United reportedly express an interest in signing Cagliari forward Victor Ibaro.

Newcastle United have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Cagliari forward Victor Ibarbo.

The Colombia international has been named in his country's provisional squad for this summer's World Cup and has only 12 months left on his contract with his club.

According to The Mirror, Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is keen to sign the 24-year-old, with his options in attack limited.

Shola Ameobi was released from the club last week, while Loic Remy and Luuk de Jong have returned to their parent clubs after season-long loans.

The report goes on to say that Barcelona and Juventus are among the teams that want to sign Ibarbo and that Cagliari are hopeful that his price will rocket if he has a successful World Cup.

Ibaro scored four goals to help Cagliari finish 15th in Serie A last season.
