FIFA vice-president Jeffrey Webb of CONCACAF is reportedly one of six officials arrested in Switzerland on suspicion of widespread corruption.
This morning, federal Swiss police visited the five-star Baur au Lac hotel in Zurich to make the arrests, just two days before the presidential election.
It is believed that those detained by the authorities are facing extradition to the United States after allegedly receiving or paying millions in bribes.
According to AP, Webb, who was one of several officials who backed the Garcia Report looking into corruption allegations, is one of the arrested individuals.
Reports have claimed that FIFA president Sepp Blatter, who is expected to be handed a fifth term on Friday, has not been arrested.
