Aidy Boothroyd upbeat on Northampton Town survival chances

Northampton Town manager Aidy Boothroyd says that confidence is high at Sixfields following Saturday's 1-0 win over Fleetwood Town in League Two.

Northampton Town manager Aidy Boothroyd was delighted with his side's performance during Saturday's 1-0 win over Fleetwood Town.

The Cobblers earned their third league victory of the season courtesy of Luke Norris's last-minute free kick at Sixfields.

Northampton remain bottom of the table, but Boothroyd insists that his side are full of confidence.

"I thought we played very well and I'm delighted for our supporters," he said. "Fleetwood are a very good side, but from start to finish our work ethic and willingness to get ourselves out of this position was superb.

"It is fine margins, but generally if you keep at it and keep going you will win more games than you lose. I'm going to celebrate this win tonight, we are on the up and I can't wait for the Hartlepool game now.

"We've got a confidence about us now and we've just got to keep building on it. We don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves, but there are 30 games left and what we've got to do is put a little run together."

Only Bristol Rovers and Plymouth Argyle have scored fewer goals than Northampton in League Two this season.
