Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp praises Stephane Mbia after the midfielder scored his first goal for the club in their win over Southend United.

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has praised Stephane Mbia after the midfielder scored his first goal for the club in their win over Southend United in a pre-season friendly.

The 27-year-old found the target on Saturday as the R's earned a 3-1 victory against the League Two side at Roots Hall.

"Mbia did well when he came on," Redknapp told the club's official website.

"He's a good player Stephane Mbia - he can play anywhere. When his mind is right, he's a big strong player."

QPR start the new Championship season at home to Sheffield Wednesday on August 3.
