Rangers appeal against Lee Wallace's red card in the Gers' clash with Annan.

Rangers have confirmed that they have lodged an appeal against Lee Wallace's red card in this week's 3-0 victory over Annan.

The defender was adjudged to fouled Jack Steele in the penalty area during the Scottish Third Division clash and was given his marching orders.

However, Gers manager Ally McCoist has since reviewed footage of the incident and decided to appeal against referee Paul Robertson's decision.

"Having reviewed footage of the incident at Murray Park, manager Ally McCoist feels the decision to remove the 25-year-old from the match early was harsh," read a statement on the Rangers website.

"And after careful consideration the Light Blues have exercised their right to appeal against the ruling.

"It is understood the consequent hearing will not take place at Hampden Park until next Thursday due to the festive period."

Wallace will now be eligible to play against Elgin City this weekend and Clyde on Boxing Day while Rangers wait for the case to be heard.
