Mark Warburton eyeing Scottish Championship title in maiden Rangers campaign

New Rangers manager Mark Warburton declares that the aim in his first season at Ibrox is to win the Scottish Championship title en route to promotion.

Mark Warburton has acknowledged that he has limited time to get new club Rangers back into the top flight of Scottish football.

The former Brentford boss was officially unveiled at Ibrox earlier today after agreeing a three-year contract.

Rangers finished third in the Championship last season, missing out on promotion via the playoffs following an emphatic 6-1 aggregate defeat against Motherwell.

Warburton, who will be joined at the helm by former Gers skipper David Weir, told reporters: "Our job is to take the club forward as quickly as possible. It's to come in here, work with the squad, gel quickly and help them achieve their target of promotion.

"Our aim is to win the division. It won't happen overnight but we'll put as much work as possible into the playing squad. I'm very aware of the size of the club and its traditions and we hope to take the club forward."

Warburton left Brentford at the end of last season after guiding them to the Championship playoffs.
