Arsene Wenger claims that it is "unbelievable" that no Real Madrid players have been selected to represent Spain this summer, and dismisses their hopes of success.

Arsene Wenger has dismissed Spain's Euro 2020 chances after Luis Enrique did not select any players from Real Madrid.

Spain won three consecutive major tournaments, including the European Championships in 2008 and 2012, but during the last tournament in France, Enrique's side were knocked out in the round of 16.

The Spanish boss opted against selecting any Real Madrid players, despite Los Blancos finishing higher in La Liga than Barcelona, who will have three players represent Spain.

Speaking to Bein Sports, Wenger said: "Spain going to a big tournament, no Real Madrid player? It's unbelievable. I don't think it's a problem with Enrique. It's just a problem at the moment. What has happened in the last two, three years is Real Madrid is weaker, Barcelona is weaker and Spain is weaker.

"I personally give a huge credit to Spain because it's the only team I have seen who dominated tournaments for three consecutive times... But since then, they drop.

"It would be a huge surprise that Spain ... But let's not forget, they have an experienced manager and they've always with technical level that is requested in the big tournaments. But you don't see that same power, that same dominance, that same confidence in the team."

This summer will be the first major tournament that La Roja have ever gone into without a single Real Madrid player in their ranks.

Spain kick off their Euro 2020 campaign against Sweden on Monday, before facing Poland and Slovakia in Group E.
