Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez has said that he is confident Cristiano Ronaldo will be fit for his team's La Liga opener against Sporting Gijon on August 23.
The Portuguese has missed Los Blancos' last three pre-season friendlies with a back problem, but Benitez has played down fears that the injury is serious.
"Cristiano had a problem the other day and he has been working with the medical team," Benitez told reporters.
"He should be okay next week and I don't think he'll have any problems playing the opening game against Sporting on August 23."
Karim Benzema is also currently on the sidelines for Los Blancos, but the Frenchman is expected to be fit for the start of the season.
