Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly fearful that Neymar will be absent for their first-leg Champions League tie against Real Madrid, currently out with an ankle injury.

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly expressed concern about Neymar's recovery from an ankle injury, fearful the Brazilian will miss their Champions League last-16 tie against Real Madrid.

The 29-year-old has been sidelined since 28 November with this ankle injury, and the timeline for Neymar's return to action hints that he may be unavailable to Mauricio Pochettino for at least the first-leg tie against Los Blancos, to be played on 15 February.

Since joining the French giants in 2017, Neymar has struggled with injuries, suffering at least one setback that has seen him miss a chunk of matches during each season.

Marca reports that the original prognosis of the Brazilian's injury was worse than it has turned out to be but the club have still only pencilled in his expected return date in time for the second-leg tie at the Bernabeu.

Neymar is still keen to speed up his recovery process for his current ankle issue in order to play a part in the first leg, having previously missed knockout games in that competition against Real Madrid and Manchester United.

The winger has managed three goals and three assists in 10 Ligue 1 appearances this season, but has not yet found the back of the net in the Champions League during this campaign.
