Isco aware of need for more goals

Real Madrid midfielder Isco says that 'he knows he needs to improve' his scoring record for the Spanish giants.

Real Madrid midfielder Isco has acknowledged that he needs to start finding the back of the net on a more regular basis for the Spanish side.

The 23-year-old netted 11 times during his first season with Los Blancos after joining from Malaga in 2013, but only hit six goals in 56 games last season.

The Spaniard was recently challenged by head coach Rafael Benitez to find more goals, and the player himself has admitted that he needs to improve in that particular area.

"I know I have to improve on that and score more goals, but it's not something that worries me. I'm sure I'll get the chance in the next games," Isco, who is also yet to score this season, told AS.

"I'm very happy here. Against Espanyol perhaps I wasn't at my best because it was 4-0 very quickly, but I felt good [against Shakhtar]. This is Madrid and no-one hands you anything. I work so I'm 100% and I can't complain about the minutes I'm getting. I'm also happy with the form of the team, which has been very good.

"The truth is I'm happy because I have more than 100 appearances for the team. The coach asks me to help defend the lines in a 4-4-2 and that I attack as I do."

Isco started and finished Real Madrid's 4-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in their Champions League Group A opener on Tuesday.
