Atletico Madrid have reportedly set their sights on signing Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale on a free transfer this summer.
It is no secret that the Welsh international will leave the Bernabeu at the end of the season when his contract expires, which will bring an end to his nine-year spell at Los Blancos.
Bale has been linked with a move back to the Premier League and a return to former club Tottenham Hotspur, while it has also been suggested that he could join hometown club Cardiff City as he looks to stay fit ahead of Wales' potential World Cup campaign at the end of this year.
According to Fichajes, Bale is among Nabil Fekir and David Garcia on Diego Simeone's shortlist for the upcoming transfer window, but the former is the riskier option considering the amount of years he has played for the other half of the Spanish capital.
Last week, it was reported that Atletico will face competition from Barcelona also for Bale signature, while the 32-year-old has also been linked with a move to MLS outfit DC United.
During his career at the Bernabeu, Bale has scored 106 goals and provided 67 assists in 258 appearances for the club.
