Pepe Mel: 'Dani Ceballos focused on Real Betis'

Real Betis boss Pepe Mel is confident that 18-year-old attacker Dani Ceballos is fully focused on the new season despite speculation surrounding his future.

Real Betis boss Pepe Mel has insisted that in-demand teenager Dani Ceballos is fully focused on the new season.

The 18-year-old played a key role in Spain's recent Under-19 European Championship success, with his performances leading to speculation of a move away from Betis this summer.

Real Madrid have been strongly linked with a move, but Betis are said to be confident of signing the attacker to a new contract, which will make him one of the highest-paid players at the club.

"I assume Dani will still be here for the League match against Villarreal," Mel told AS.

"He's a strong lad and all the speculation won't have affected him. He's more concerned about passing his driving test."

As it stands, Ceballos will be out of contract next summer.
