Half-Time Report: Schalke 04 holding Sporting Lisbon

Sporting Lisbon are forced to come from a goal down to play out a 1-1 draw with Schalke 04 in the first half of their Champions League tie.

Sporting Lisbon were forced to come back from a goal down as they were held to a 1-1 draw at half time by Schalke 04 in the Champions League.

Defeat for Sporting would all but end their hopes of qualification, but they started poorly and were a goal down inside the first 20 minutes.

The visitors had the lead on 17 minutes, and it was Islam Slimani who put through his own net under pressure from a set-piece delivery.

However, the Portuguese outfit were back in it nine minutes later thanks to Naby Sarr's header after a delivery from Jefferson.

Jefferson was fortunate not to concede a penalty on 34 minutes as the official waved away Schalke's appeals after the ball appeared to strike him on the hand.
