Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino feels that it is essential his side don't dwell on their win over Manchester City.

Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino feels that his side mustn't dwell on their win over Manchester City but wants them to play with the same intensity.

The Saints take on Newcastle United on Sunday in a relegation six-pointer with both sides sitting just three points above the drop zone in the Premier League.

"We have the same expectations and ambitions," he told the club's official website. "For example we want to go to Newcastle and get the three points.

"We know that whatever has happened in football in the past doesn't count for anything in the future, so we will keep moving forwards."

Southampton's last victory on Tyneside came 16 years ago in March 1997.
