Spain boss Vicente del Bosque: 'Impossible to pick everyone'

Spain boss Vicente del Bosque insists that he had to make some tough decisions when selecting his final 23-man squad for Euro 2016.

Spain boss Vicente del Bosque has insisted that he has selected "a balanced squad" for Euro 2016 after making some surprise calls in his final 23-man selection.

Saul Niguez, Isco and Fernando Torres all missed out on spots in the La Roja travelling squad, while the likes of Juan Mata and Diego Costa did not even make the initial selection process for the European Championships.

Despite leaving out a host of recognised internationals, Del Bosque has said that he is happy with his squad as it would have been "impossible to bring them all".

"We've picked a balanced squad for our needs and called up the best players we could. That's it. There's no animosity against anyone. [The absence of] Saul has drawn attention, as has [that of Juan] Mata, [Paco] Alcacer, Diego Costa and Torres," Del Bosque told AS.

"If we look at our midfield, there's [Sergio] Busquets, Bruno, [Andres] Iniesta, [Mikel] San Jose, Cesc [Fabregas], Thiago, Koke, but only three will play! It's impossible to bring them all! What's hardly been discussed is the 23 who have come."

Spain open their Euro 2016 challenge against Czech Republic on June 13.
