Emmanuel Adebayor: 'Daniel Levy scuppered West Ham United switch'

Emmanuel Adebayor says that he is happy at Spurs despite confirming that chairman Daniel Levy blocked his deadline-day move to West Ham.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor has confirmed that chairman Daniel Levy blocked his deadline-day move to West Ham United.

The 30-year-old looked poised to seal a loan switch to Upton Park on Monday, having struggled for first-team opportunities under manager Mauricio Pochettino this season.

However, Levy is thought to have pulled the plug on the deal after growing reluctant to strengthen a rival club, with the Hammers four points behind sixth-placed Spurs in the table.

"I am staying here, and I am happy to stay at the club and do my job." Adebayor told Sky Sports News. "Everything happened in the last 48 hours, although the window was open for a month.

"The club decided to send me out on loan, which I was pleased with, and there were five good clubs who were interested.

"So I narrowed that down to three and then one that I wanted to go, but Mr Levy was against that because it was a rival club."

The former Arsenal and Manchester City man has scored twice in 11 Premier League games this season.
