Tottenham Hotspur's Jermain Defoe believes that he and Emmanuel Adebayor can form a productive striking partnership for the club this season.
Both players found the net during Saturday's 2-0 away win against Wolverhampton Wanderers and England international Defoe hopes that it is start of a clinical pairing at White Hart Lane.
"There was a lot of speculation that [Adebayor] was coming and I just thought to myself 'please let it happen' because he's a great player," the 28-year-old told the club's official website.
"He's quick, he can head it, he is strong and he is a good finisher.
"He can do everything. Him being there freed me up a bit because it allowed me to drop deep, get on the ball and beat players so it was good."
Adebayor joined Spurs on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City.
