Harry Kane: 'Plenty still to play for in Premier League title race'

Tottenham striker Harry Kane admits that the international break is coming at the wrong time for his title-chasing side, but hopes to resume their form when they return.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has admitted that the international break is coming at a bad time for his title-chasing side.

Spurs closed the gap on leaders Leicester City back to five points with a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth this afternoon, with Kane scoring the first of his two goals inside the opening minute.

Kane acknowledged that he would rather be in Leicester's position at this stage of the season, but vowed to fight the Foxes for the title until the very end of the campaign.

"We wanted to come out the blocks flying and there's no better way to do that than get an early goal. We grew into the game and got better and better. It was a solid 3-0 victory," Kane is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"We scored early which helped but I think we are a calm team anyway, that's the way we always play press high and keep the ball. At half time we said we didn't want to take our foot off the pedal and the early goal in the second half helped with that.

"I'd rather have the five-point lead but with Leicester usually playing first we know what we have to do and there's still a lot of points up for grabs. The international break has not come at a good time, we would like to carry on playing, but it might give us a breather [from the league] and focus on it when we get back to get as many points as we can."

Tottenham's first match after the international break comes away to Liverpool at Anfield.
