Team News: Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld miss out for Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur centre-backs Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are both absent for the Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace.

Tottenham Hotspur centre-backs Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are both absent for the Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace.

Alderweireld misses out due to a minor hamstring injury, while Vertonghen is absent due to a knock he suffered on his ankle in training on Saturday.

Therefore, Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier have been selected at centre-back by Mauricio Pochettino, while Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele start in midfield.

Further forward for Spurs, Erik Lamela partners Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli, while Harry Kane begins as a lone striker.

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson hands a Premier League debut to Aaron Wan-Bissaka at centre-back. The Eagles boss has a host of first-team players out injured, and so gives another start to Jairo Riedewald in midfield.

Andros Townsend is alongside Alexander Sorloth elsewhere in the team, while Christian Benteke starts up top.

Crystal Palace: Hennessey; Wan-Bissaka, Fosu-Mensah, Tomkins, Van Aanholt; Milivojevic, Riedewald, McArthur; Townsend, Sorloth, Benteke
Subs: Henry, Souare, Delaney, Rakip Lokilo, Kirby Lee

Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris; Aurier, Sanchez, Dier, Davies; Wanyama, Dembele; Lamela, Eriksen, Alli; Kane
Subs: Vorm, Foyth, Trippier, Rose, Sissoko, Lucas, Son
