AZ technical director Max Huiberts has confirmed that the club have rejected a bid from Tottenham Hotspur for striker Vincent Janssen.
The North London outfit have been heavily linked with a swoop for the Netherlands international, who scored 27 Eredivisie goals last season.
However, Huiberts has revealed that Spurs did not meet the club's asking price, which is believed to be in the region of £16m.
"The difference between the offer and the price we demand was too big," Huiberts told De Telegraaf. "Spurs have made the only official bid. I've read a lot of speculation and been telephoned by other clubs but no-one else has made any concrete offer."
Previous reports have claimed that Spurs were keen to wrap up a deal worth £12m.
