Reading captain Jobi McAnuff has urged the club to mimic the way in which Stoke City have established themselves as a Premier League club.
The Royals were promoted back to the top flight last season following a four-year absence, while Stoke have successfully fought off the threat of relegation since reaching the Premier League back in 2008.
With Stoke having now added players like Peter Crouch to their squad, McAnuff feels that the Potters provide the perfect "model" for Reading to copy.
"You now look at the players [Stoke] are attracting and they are an established Premier League team now," said McAnuff.
"Going up into the Premier League that is a model we can look at, hopefully achieve what they have done and go beyond that. I'm sure that is the aim with everyone at the club."
The two teams meet at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday.
