Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has expressed his disappointment at the decision to send off Ryan Shotton in their 0-0 draw with Aston Villa this afternoon.
The Potters full-back was shown a second yellow card in the latter stages of the Midlands derby, during which Stoke recorded their eighth Premier League clean sheet of the season.
While he feels the dismissal was unfair, Pulis was wary not to criticise referee Roger East in order to avoid disciplinary action.
"It was pretty bizarre for me and disappointing," said Pulis. "I'm disappointed with the two bookings when you compare those with the tackle on Glenn Whelan (by Villa's Ciaran Clark).
"But you cannot come on here and criticise the referee and say they are doing something different for each side. I'm not going to do that because [the FA] have took money off me before for doing that."
Shotton is now suspended for Stoke's match with Everton at the Britannia Stadium next weekend.
