Sam Allardyce rubbishes Sunderland rumours

Sam Allardyce denies speculation that he will become Sunderland's next manager this summer.

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has dismissed suggestions that he will succeed Dick Advocaat as Sunderland manager this summer.

The 60-year-old, who formerly played for the Wearsiders in the 1980-81 season, has regularly been linked with a move away from Upton Park after the current campaign.

However, despite talk of joining Sunderland, Allardyce insists that he is only planning on discussing a new contract with the Hammers.

He is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "There is only one thing that needs to be sorted out here and that is me sitting down with the owners when they are ready to talk about me being at West Ham and nowhere else.

"Until that is resolved we won't know which way we are both going forward. That is the only thing that is to be sorted, to sit down and sort it out."

Allardyce was appointed as West Ham boss in 2011.
