Sunderland goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon has insisted that the club's fight against relegation last season did not put him off joining from Manchester City.
The Romanian shot-stopper, 27, left the Premier League champions for the Stadium of Light last month.
Despite the Black Cats' disappointing campaign in the top flight last year, Pantilimon is confident that the team can enjoy success this term.
"No, the results from last year didn't worry me," he told the Sunderland Echo. "I know that at this moment we have a good manager and good players. It didn't scare me or anything like that.
"I came here to help this team. I know about this project and the ideas of the manager. I'm sure we're going to do good things."
Sunderland's pre-season campaign continues tonight against Recreativo Huelva in Spain.
