Patrick van Aanholt decided on Sunderland move immediately

Sunderland left-back Patrick van Aanholt admits that he didn't take very long to make his decision to move to the Black Cats.

Patrick van Aanholt has revealed that he decided to join Sunderland as soon as he heard about their interest in signing him.

The Netherlands international penned a four-year deal at the Stadium of Light after sealing a move from Chelsea, and is determined to make an immediate impact with Gus Poyet's side.

He told the club's official website: "Sunderland is a great club and it is a great opportunity for me to play in the Barclays Premier League.

"I spoke with the head coach on the phone and he said he would be very happy to bring me to Sunderland, I thought about it for one second and immediately knew that I would love to come here."

Van Aanholt spent the past two seasons on loan at Vitesse Arnhem.
