Sam Allardyce: 'No truth in Sunderland link'

Former West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce dismisses rumours of a return to football management with Sunderland, insisting he is happy to take a break.

Sam Allardyce has rejected rumours of a return to football management with Sunderland, insisting he is happy to take a break from the sport.

The former West Ham United manager had been linked with the Black Cats, following speculation that current head coach Dick Advocaat could resign from the Stadium of Light.

Speaking to BBC Sport, the 60-year-old said: "It's not true. Look how relaxed I am looking, I'm not stressed like those boys [other managers]. There's no truth in it.

"I'm taking a break. It was four years at West Ham. I'm chilling out."

Asked whether Allardyce would ever return to management, the former Bolton Wanderers chief said: "It is not in my hands, it depends what arises and whether I fancy it or not."

Sunderland claimed their first point of the season against Swansea City on Saturday afternoon.
