Swansea City caretaker Alan Curtis: 'We let Garry Monk down'

Swansea City caretaker manager Alan Curtis believes that players and staff at the club let recently-sacked Garry Monk down with their performances.

Swansea City caretaker manager Alan Curtis has said that he and the club's players let recently-fired Garry Monk down with their performances.

Monk was sacked on Wednesday after a run of only one win in 11 Premier League games, with the Swans just a point above the bottom three.

Curtis, who will take charge of tomorrow's match against Manchester City, told the club website: "We all feel - staff and players - that we have let him down and we want to go a small way to rectifying that on Saturday.

"Some may say it's too late because Garry's already gone, but we also have a massive duty and responsibility to the club and our supporters."

Former Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is the current favourite to take over at the Liberty Stadium, with initial market-leaders Brendan Rodgers and David Moyes having ruled themselves out of the running.
