Alan Curtis: 'New Swansea City manager unlikely to arrive in next week'

Swansea caretaker manager Alan Curtis admits that it is "highly unlikely" that the club will appoint Garry Monk's successor within the next week.

Swansea City caretaker boss Alan Curtis has revealed that it is "highly unlikely" that the club will appoint a new manager within the next week.

The Swans have been without a permanent manager since Garry Monk was sacked in early December, with Curtis set to take charge of a fifth match against Manchester United on Saturday.

Curtis has insisted that he is "comfortable" with his position at the moment, though, and believes that the team's improved results have lessened the need for a quick successor to Monk.

"The fact we've got a couple of results has probably eased the pressure to get somebody in straight away," Curtis told reporters.

"If we'd lost the four games there would be huge pressure to appoint a new manager, but the performances as well as the results have been good. I did speak to the chairman on Tuesday and it's exactly the same position.

"The search for a new manager goes on and we carry on regardless unless the situation changes. Things could change, even this week, but it's probably highly unlikely at the moment."

Curtis has lost just one of his four games in charge of Swansea, keeping clean sheets in each of the last three.
