Swansea City reportedly decide to open talks with head coach Carlos Carvalhal over a new contract at the Liberty Stadium.

Swansea City have reportedly decided to begin discussions over a new contract with Carlos Carvalhal.

In December, Carvalhal was named as the replacement for Paul Clement, and the Portuguese has moved the club outside of the Premier League relegation zone.

The Welsh outfit currently sit three points above the bottom three - and have a game in hand - with Carvalhal winning eight of his 18 matches in charge in all competitions.

According to Sky Sports News, Swansea are ready to trigger an option in the 52-year-old's contract which ties the former Sheffield Wednesday man down for a longer period at the Liberty Stadium.

The report claims that regardless of whether the team remain in the top flight, the Swansea hierarchy want Carvalhal to continue as head coach past the end of the season.
