Swansea City defender Steven Caulker was arrested in the early hours of Saturday for a public order offence.
The England Under-21 player was taken to a police station in the Welsh city following an incident during a night out.
The 19-year-old was issued with a fixed penalty notice before being released.
"I can confirm he was arrested for a public order offence and taken to Swansea Central police station," said Superintendent Phil Davies.
Caulker is on a year-long loan from Tottenham, but is currently recovering from knee surgery.
