Swansea City's move for Wigan Athletic striker Arouna Kone could be in jeopardy, according to a report.
Manager Michael Laudrup instructed his club's board to activate the Ivory Coast international's release clause immediately after the Latics relegation.
However, they failed to make the £6.5m bid and the Swans now face competition for Kone's signature from Liverpool and Everton, according to The Mirror.
Reports have emerged that there is tension between Laudrup and the Swansea board over their transfer policy and this latest issue could only heighten the situation at the Liberty Stadium.
