Ashley Williams hits out at reports calling for Wales manager Chris Coleman to be sacked.

Wales centre-back Ashley Williams has leaped to the defence of national team coach Chris Coleman and hit out at reports calling for his head.

The Welsh look almost certain to miss out on the 2014 World Cup finals following their 2-1 defeat to Croatia, but the Swansea City defender believes that Coleman is the right man for the job.

"We definitely want him to stay. He came in and took the job in unbelievably tough circumstances but I think you can see it's getting back to where it was under Gary Speed," Williams told reporters.

"The last two camps with him have been brilliant. I think that's really pleasing and it would be stupid to change the manager, no one would say they want to see a change."

Wales took the lead in Tuesday night's qualifier through a Gareth Bale penalty, but Dejan Lovren netted an equaliser for Croatia in the second half before Eduardo scored a late winner.
