Watford midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah is reportedly due to undergo a second scan on his injured knee to learn the extent of the damage.
The 22-year-old has not played since the Hornets were hammered 6-0 by Manchester City on September 16 due to a problem that he suffered in training.
It is believed that the midfielder felt pain when he kicked a ball during a session, and at the time did not have any players around him attempting a tackle.
According to The Mirror, Watford are hopeful that their summer signing from Chelsea does not require surgery, but their worst-case scenario fear is that he could be sidelined until the New Year.
Chalobah, who was included in Gareth Southgate's recent England squad, has made five appearances in the Premier League this season.
