Watford boss Marco Silva admits that his side's meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion 'was not great to watch', with Pascal Gross's second-half effort settling the game.

Marco Silva has admitted to being disappointed with Watford's display against Brighton & Hove Albion after seeing his side struggle to create chances in their 1-0 loss.

The Hornets' disappointing run of Premier League form continued at the Amex Stadium as a Pascal Gross strike inflicted a fourth successive defeat on them.

Watford rarely threatened either side of the game's decisive moment, coming closest to levelling up late on when the ball fell to Stefano Okaka from close range, while Brighton squandered good chances through Lewis Dunk and Tomer Hemed.

Speaking to reporters after the match, a frustrated Silva lambasted the lack of quality on display on the south coast.

"We didn't start well. Brighton started faster than us and we had problems defending deep, with our backline, and they didn't react," he said. "The match was more balanced after 25 minutes.

"We didn't create a lot of chances. We had a good chance with Richarlison before they scored and then one mistake and we're behind. We were in a position to start the move differently, but one mistake in the build-up, one short pass and they score.

"It's not a good game to see - I don't think there was a lot of quality or a big performance from both teams. They score one goal; they had two or three more [chances], we had two [chances] and didn't score. They won, congratulations to them."

Watford have now picked up just one point from their past six Premier League matches.
