Nicolas Anelka scored twice as West Bromwich Albion registered a 3-0 win over Puskas Academy on Monday.

Baggies boss Steve Clarke named a strong team for the pre-season clash, with new signing Anelka joined by Shane Long and Chris Brunt in the starting lineup.

It did not take long for Anelka to make his mark, as the former Arsenal forward coolly slotted into the bottom corner to send the Premier League side ahead with nine minutes on the clock.

Long came close to making it 2-0 after 20 minutes when he collected a pass from Markus Rosenberg before attempting to find the bottom corner, but his effort smashed off the post.

The Baggies did have their second moments before the half-hour mark, however, when Anelka completed his brace from close range.

Both sides made changes in the second period with Youssef Mulumbu, Liam Ridgewell and Gareth McAuley among the personnel entering the field for West Brom.

Neither could conjure too many attacking opportunities, however, with the constant change slowing the tempo of the match.

The Baggies did have their third late on, however, when Graham Dorrans converted from the penalty spot to secure a comfortable win for the Premier League outfit.
