Dimitri Payet has not spoken to The Sun about his West Ham United future, according to the Frenchman's agent Jacques Olivier Auguste.
On Friday morning, the English newspaper ran a story which quoted Payet as saying that he would "100%" be a West Ham player next season, despite reported interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid.
However, according to Auguste, the 29-year-old's comment was a fabrication.
"I am surprised by this information because Dimitri has not done an interview with any media outlet," he told Daily Mercato. "The only thing that is certain is that he is enjoying his holiday, that he deserves, and he is licking the wounds caused by the Euro 2016 final defeat.
"So he is only thinking about recharging at the moment. These declarations are pure inventions in the imagination of a journalist. This deserved a response."
Payet scored 12 times in 38 appearances for West Ham during the 2015-16 season, in addition to netting three times for France during their run to the final of Euro 2016.
