Lee Bowyer backs Sam Allardyce at West Ham United

Former West Ham midfielder Lee Bowyer believes that Sam Allardyce is the right man to manage the club next season.

Former West Ham United midfielder Lee Bowyer has claimed that manager Sam Allardyce is the right man to lead the club next season.

Despite the team's 13th-placed finish in the Premier League table last term, the West Ham board recently gave their backing to the under-fire Allardyce.

Following the announcement that he will be staying at Upton Park, Bowyer believes that the 59-year-old is the correct choice to guide the Hammers during the 2014-15 campaign.

"He is a manager that knows the league inside out and he gets results," he told the club's official website. "He can grind a result out and sometimes that is what you have to do, grind results out.

"West Ham beat Spurs three times in one season. I don't think it has been a bad season, sometimes you can't win pretty, you have to grind it out and we did what we had to do at times when it was needed."

Allardyce took charge of West Ham in 2011 following a two-year spell at Blackburn Rovers.
