West Ham United announce that Polish goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has signed a contract extension until the summer of 2023.

West Ham United have announced that goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has signed a contract extension until the summer of 2023.

The 37-year-old will remain with the Hammers for a fifth season and he has the option to extend his new deal by a further year.

Fabianski has been a first-team regular between the sticks since joining the club from Swansea City in 2018, making 138 appearances across all competitions including 37 in the Premier League last season.

Speaking to West Ham TV about extending his stay at the club, Fabianski said: "I'm obviously pleased and very happy that I can stay for one more year, so I'm excited about it, for sure.

"The way the club has developed and started to reach its potential, it's been really nice to be part of it.

"I can see how much attention this club draws when it comes to interacting with the fans or the way it's being presented in the media.

"I think there's a lot of interest into the club, so it feels like this club is one of the bigger ones in the country, so I'm just honoured and proud to be part of this club for a few years now."

Fabianski is now set to compete with Alphonse Areola for the number one jersey, after the latter joined the Hammers on a permanent deal at the end of last month.
