Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has said that Roberto Martinez "might just stay" with the club after this season.
Martinez is the 2/1 favourite to take over from David Moyes, who will become the new Manchester United manager this summer, at Everton, and yesterday's FA Cup success against Manchester City enhances the Spaniard's credentials to take up a bigger job.
Whelan conceded that Martinez will leave for a big club but doesn't think that it will be this summer, even if the Latics are relegated from the Premier League.
"Roberto will make his own mind up. Roberto consistently says 'I love Wigan, I will stay with Wigan'," Whelan told Press Association Sport.
"When the time comes he will leave for a big club, I have no doubt about that. But I think he might just stay with Wigan."
Whelan said that the players couldn't celebrate the cup win because of Tuesday's crucial Premier League match at Arsenal.
"We have two massive games," Whelan added. "Last night they went home and knew they had to go straight to bed. We have a big game on Tuesday and a massive game on Sunday.
"The boys are dedicated to the massive task of keeping Wigan in the Premier League. The big fight is to stay up."
Wigan's victory on Saturday made them the first team to win the FA Cup on their debut outing since Wimbledon in 1988.
