Golf's world number one Luke Donald has offered his thanks to those who have sent him messages of support following the death of his father on Monday.
No details have been given as to what caused Colin Donald's death, although it has been described as sudden.
"Thank you everyone for your sympathies after the passing of my dad," Luke Donald wrote on his Twitter account. "It's a difficult time and your support means a lot to me. With death there is pain and loss, but out of that comes light and appreciation.
"Appreciate what you have. I miss you dad x."
The 33-year-old is currently attempting to become the first player in history to win both the PGA Tour's money list and the European Tour's Order of Merit.
