Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has revealed that he has undergone a hair transplant.
The 41-year-old German has claimed that he was inspired by Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney, who had a reported £30,000 procedure carried out in 2011.
Hamann, who underwent the transplant at the Crown Clinic in Manchester, has admitted that the pressures of working as a TV pundit contributed to his decision.
"I remember thinking when [Rooney] had his hair done 'good for him - he wants to look better and isn't afraid to tell the world about it'," The Mirror quotes Hamann as saying.
"I'm the same. I am happy to go public and make clear that you can really benefit from giving nature a helping hand. It didn't bother me too much when I was playing but my career now is in the media and it is important that you look good."
During his career in England, Hamann played for Newcastle United, Liverpool, Bolton Wanderers and Manchester City.
