Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney took a brief detour on his way to training this morning to watch his son Kai receive a certificate at school.
The England skipper posted on Instagram that his five-year-old had been honoured in front of his fellow pupils in his primary school's assembly.
Along with a photo of himself with the youngster, Rooney posted the message: "Great seeing Kai pick up his achievement certificate at his assembly before training this morning."
There were reported concerns at United that the forward could miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, but the 29-year-old was photographed in his full training gear today.
