Luke Donald reveals that he will donate money to a youth programme in Chicago for every birdie and eagle he makes during the BMW Championship this week.

English golfer Luke Donald has revealed that he will donate money to a youth programme for every birdie and eagle he makes during this week's BMW Championship.

The former world number one has claimed that he will give £637 for every birdie and £1274 for every eagle he makes during the competition.

The First Tee of Greater Chicago youth development programme will benefit from the generosity of Donald, who studied at the Northwestern University in Illinois.

"Through The First Tee youngsters discover how skills essential to success on a golf course can also help them flourish in life and I am intent on raising as much money as possible for them," Donald said in a press release.

The 35-year-old now resides in Chicago.
