Queens Park Rangers fans take swipe at Mark Hughes in ad

Queens Park Rangers fans give Mark Hughes a tongue-in-cheek thank-you message via an advert following his Stoke City appointment.

Queens Park Rangers fans have taken a swipe at former manager Mark Hughes by sending him a tongue-in-cheek thank-you via an advert.

The fans behind the Open all R's podcast have displayed an advert reading, "a message from QPR fans: Mark Hughes - Thanks (for nothing)" following the 49-year-old's appointment at Stoke City.

"It sticks in the throat that Mark Hughes will be operating in the Premier League next season whilst QPR have to pick up the pieces of a disastrous season in the Championship," The Mirror quotes a spokesman as saying.

"Football fans are known for their gallows humour and our message is a bit of fun, and maybe a bit of a tongue-in-cheek warning to Stoke fans."

The advert was put on display at a garage near to Stoke's Britannia Stadium.
