England centre Sam Burgess denies reported rugby league return

England centre Sam Burgess denies reports in Australia that he could again switch codes and move back to rugby league following the Rugby World Cup.

England centre Sam Burgess has denied that he is going to return to rugby league following the Rugby World Cup, after reports in Australia suggested that he could again change codes.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a move back to Australian rugby league outfit South Sydney Rabbitohs, the club he played for before making the switch to rugby union.

"I can completely deny it, there is no truth in it and I haven't had a word from Australia. I don't know where it has come from but it's definitely not true. It's not going to unsettle me before the World Cup, I'll just put it to bed," Burgess told reporters.

"I'm thrilled to be in the World Cup squad. I dreamed of getting in this position. Once I made the decision to come over, one of my goals was to play in this World Cup. It's here now, I've just got to get out there and do my bit for the team and for this country.

"Sometimes you have a little bit of doubt, but you should never be scared of that. Doubt can sometimes be a driving factor but I always had belief that I could add something to the team."

Burgess forms part of England's eight-man bench for their World Cup opener with Fiji on September 18.
