Adam Johnson has described Sunderland's victory over Fulham in the Premier League this afternoon as a "massive win" for the club.
The winger scored a hat-trick in the 4-1 win, which moves the Black Cats off the bottom of the table.
"I've been working hard and at the beginning of the year I said this was a new year, a new start and time to get back to how I had been playing in the past," BBC Sport quotes the 26-year-old as saying.
"It was a massive win for us and there will be a few people looking over their shoulders. Everyone said we were adrift but we showed we could be a force."
Today's hat-trick makes Johnson the club's top scorer in the league this season.
