Rebecca Adlington will not compete in the 4x200m freestyle relay in order to focus on clinching gold for Great Britain in the 800m freestyle.

British swimmer Rebecca Adlington has pulled out of the 4x200m freestyle relay event in order to focus on the 800m race.

The 23-year-old, who clinched bronze in the 400m freestyle final on Sunday, has officially decided to drop competing in today's heat.

The women's group for Team GB that will now take part in the relay include Caitlin McClatchey, Rebecca Turner, Ellie Faulkner and Joanne Jackson.

Adlington has decided to focus on challenging for gold in the 800m freestyle, with the heats on Thursday and the final on Friday.
